What's It About

Your history lesson for the day...

LOGO.pngKeep It Real is a video contest for high school aged youth to create messages about preventing underage drinking.

It's been 8 years since the Keep It Real Contest first engaged youth in creating peer messages about the benefits of waiting to drink! Through a strong collaboration of local non-profits, business, media organizations and schools, we have showcased local talents and spread far and wide the message that underage alcohol use is unacceptable. Join us on Facebook to learn more about making videos, about preventing alcohol and other drug use, and interesting facts and tidbits that we run across.

This Program was Designed by the Media Collaboratory

mclogo.pngThe Media Collaboratory evolved from an idea by Arthur Rouse to combine the cinematic arts with constructionist education philosophy. Filmmaking is the ultimate creative medium, enhancing teaching and learning through project-based, integrated curriculum in a collaborative environment across all disciplines. Projects like History Happens, Keep-It-Real, the Kentucky Film Lab, and the Filmmaking Certificate Program at Bluegrass Community and Technical College have been facilitated by the Media Collaboratory as well as the influence of programs at Pepperdine University, Florida State University, and the University of Kentucky.
